Sometimes you we have to take a break from chasing surf, usually when the waves are small like today. We found solace in an adventure that took us to some of the most beautiful places Nicaragua has to offer. We had a bonus appearance from some Howler Monkeys who announced our arrival with an obnoxious welcome (If you’ve ever heard a Howler Monkey you know the sound). We saw the guts of Volcano Massaya, bought some art in the town of Massaya, had lunch in Catarina overlooking Laguna Apoyo and then went all the way down to take a swim in the extinct volcano lake. Its usually just us there, but today a group of friendly locals swam with us…too bad we didn’t have room to give them a ride back up to the top of the hill. It was a wonderful day by all accounts….
