I’m sure you East Coasters love to hear that, but I’m actually referring to the swell direction. We’ve got a due west swell at 267 degrees and that’s not a very good direction for the reefs we know and love to surf. The photos above are from FT’s and you can see the short mushy shoulders. In fact the rights were better but it was impossible to get the boat in to get an angle on them. With our “spidey sense” tingling we made the call to head for Salinas Grande and scored one of the better sessions we’ve seen out there. Rights were rifling down the beach and it was a barrel fest from start to finish. We actually turned out backs on good waves because we were surfed out. You’ll have to take our word for it as we didn’t have the water camera to get some shots from inside…poor Marvin had to wait out the back on the boat for us to get our fill. We’re really lucky there were no broken boards either…it was pretty heavy.
