Certain people make fun of Goyo for always having a puffy face and seagull arms when he surfs. As hard as he tries, he just can’t surf without doing it…and he was caught again today. While Sean may suck at surfing, Goyo just looks stupid doing it;-)
The waves were pretty fun this morning at GP. Tides weren’t too high, only about 7.5 feet max. The water held pretty full for quite a while and Hemmies has actually been a little bit better on the dangerous mid tides. While a lot of sand is filling in the reef the part we’re surfing over is still sharp and covered with urchins. We knew it because the water was really clear and all the little black spots, which are urchins, could be seen on the bottom…better make those re-entries, especially when the offshore winds have a knack for hanging you up at the top when doing top turns.
One note: The swell reports say 2 feet at 16 seconds, which would easily translate to head high or a little overhead. We’re not seeing waves anywhere near that height and we’re not sure why. Hopefully the swell is just delayed a bit and will be showing more in the morning. At least it’s offshore all day!
