I’ve been a bit short of words in hopes that FT’s would show its face before I had to come clean and say that it didn’t exist any more. Luckily the natural processes that have made it an incredible wave since before written history are still working and the sandbar is doing its thing the way we expected. It’s typical for October storms to bring onshore winds that break the sandbar down…then over winter lots of sand builds up… and then in spring new swells groom the sand bar back into perfection. This year the process was delayed and the huge build up of sand from the last few years has cleared out. I thought FT’s might not exist this season. So I was giddy with excitement when we hit it yesterday an found that 1.5 hours after the low tide…the waves were really good. Then today…about 2 hours after low tide, the waves were really good again. If FT’t on it’s best day is an 8 on a worldwide scale, behind breaks like “Restaurants”, “Desert Point”, “Padang Padang”, “G-Land”, etc…all which are a solid 10 when they’re on…then the last couple of days were solid 5.5-6. It could have been more hollow, it could have been lighter wind conditions, it could have been a bit longer of a wave…but overall…it was pretty fucking good! If you’ve been here you know…and if you haven’t, come visit and we’ll show you. Freight Trains is back!
PS: Did I mention the sea snakes?
