It’s not always a downer when your daddy dies! For those of you who have had the pleasure of spending time down here, in what we like to refer to as “Mr. Giggleworth’s Fun Factory”, you can thank my father Bud. My mom had some to do with that too, but alas we’ll write her Yagoogaly another day hopefully a long time from now.
My father had Alzheimer’s, a bitch of a disease and it took him from us at the relatively young age of 74! Growing up I thought my father was an asshole and sometimes he was. I realized, as much as I fought it, that I was too! However once I was grown and responsible for my own decisions we became really good friends. It was such a fun time when I was finally able to be friends with my father instead of the son he had to stay on top of. I like to think he did a good job as I turned out pretty good, I have an amazing life, I love to help others and I think I make the world a better place…I hope so. If you’re reading this, I probably made at least a week of your life pretty good!
So with that said it’s time to party! Have a toast for my father, Willard George Chrisman, “Pops” to me and “Bud” to everyone else. He was a good man, a sailor with a foul mouth, a lover of life and all it’s blessings, generous to a fault and yes, sometimes an asshole! I’m proud to be half the man he used to be.
Oh yeah….the photos are from out front…my buddy Rafa getting some sick ones!
