After a long wait, kind of like the night before your parents take you to Disneyland for the first time, it was our moment to get on the Matterhorn. Luckily the lines are short and we’ve got the never ending ticket too! The swell arrived pretty much on time, which is rare, and it’s been really fun. There are some quirks to the swell however, but we’re dealing with it.
The winds are strong, as is par this time of year. What’s not par for the course is 10 foot faces. There are also some weird physics happening that is killing the power directly out front. Punta Miramar is working, but only on the high tide. Pipes is going off the chain, Shacks and Shiftys are pumping…but Punta Miramar which usually get’s the brunt of any swell has been left out.
We didn’t go to Freight Trains this morning because when we got up there were 20-25 knot gusts of wind. Tomorrow is calling for slightly lighter winds…we’re going to give it a shot. Hopefully it will be working as well as it was about a month ago.
It’s still odd to see swell like this at this time of year. We’re not complaining…we’re just saying.
