It was amazing! The website did not promise too much – it turned out to be even better than we expected!!!
The camp managers Greg and Kayla do an extremely good job. Together with their friendly, local staff they took great care of us from the day we arrived until our departure.
The charming house lies infront of the beach and is well looked after – rooms are cleaned daily and have everything you need.
Three times a day you all sit down together and enjoy local, home made and freshly cooked meals which you will for sure miss!
There is always something going on: like daily planned surf tours by boat to different spots or if the swell is bad, outings to Leon, day trips to beautiful volcanic crater lakes or even spear finishing your own dinner, only a few hundred meters off shore.
And if you just want to relax after an eventful day, you can hang out in a hammock on the rancho overlooking the sea, regain your strength in a Yoga session or just enjoy a fantastic massage by Kayla.
Thank you for an incredible time and for letting us be a part of your small, loving family!
We hope to clink “Tona”-bottles again soon after a successful day out in the waves.
Cheers and a lot of “Chappechäs” 😉
Awesome Surf Trip
I had an awesome week with Surf Tours Nicaragua. The staff are fantastic hosts and the home-cooked food prepared by the ladies was delicious. The fridge is stocked up with local beer and you can mix yourself tasty cocktails. I had a fun time hanging out with the surf guides and the other guests. Greg will take you to awesome beaches daily to go surf and fish. The waves in December were perfect for me being as beginner. They were small to medium in size perfect for learning. By the end of the trip I was catching a couple of greens and feeling much more confident in the water. The week at STN was one my highlights during my stay in Central America. I would definitely come back here again!
Feels like home
Relaxed and caring surf camp with no lack of anything. Great souls, daily surf trips with a boat, caring instructors and big family meals all day long. Beautiful rooms and big community areas. Feels like home.
Surf Tours Nicaragua was perfect for me to advance in surfing. What made my time there so great was that I only had to worry about enjoying the waves while surfing – everything else is taken care of in the best way. You have an early breakfast if want to surf the early morning hours, the rest of the day you can enjoy the three delicious meals eaten family style with the other guests and the surf guides. The meals are timed with the surf trips so you are never to hungry or to full to surf. The surfguides take you everyday by boat to a spot meeting your surf abilities and the specific conditions that day. That could be a beach break or reef break.
There was always a surf teacher in the water with me giving me advise and help during the surf lesson. Surf Tours Nicaragua owes a lot of surf boards in excellent conditions, so you can easily select with the help of the surf guide the right board for todays conditions. They will also take pictures and videos of you documenting your progress. When not surfing you can just relax in the hammock watching the waves and other surfers from the beachfront rancho. Or you can play pool billard, jump in the pool, watch a surf movie, learn to play the drums, read a book from the library… there are so many ways to enjoy yourself at that hotel.
I had such a great time with the other guests and the surfguides and also rode such great waves with the help of the surf teacher that I really wished I could stay in that surf paradise longer. If you wish to have a great time in as well as out of the water – this is the best choice.
We had a really great time there. The crew is supernice and helpful. The surfguides are doing a great job helping improve our surf! One of the best surflessons we have ever taken. The hotel is right at the beachfront. Best place to watch the sunset every night. Also, the facilities have a pool where you can relax and hang out after a fun day of Surfing. Will definitely be back one day!
Totally RAD! 😀
We absolutely LOVED our time at STN. Our accommodations were great (the individual A/C unit in our room was very helpful at night! We also loved chilling and doing yoga atop the ‘rancho’), the food was excellent (thank you ladies!) and the overall experience was just AWESOME.
Greg and Kayla run a very sweet space. They take really great care of you and make you feel like part of the family. We arrived as guests and left as friends.
Big ups to Greg, Kayla and all the peeps (Matty, Keith, Jose, Marvin, Eduardo, Luke, Zanito) that help make STN such a fun place to visit and stay at!
Muchos gracias, amigos! We will definitely come back.
Love at First Sunset
Surf Tours Nicaragua THANK-YOU!!! We had the most amazing adventure with you. From the moment Jose greeted us with a huge smile we could feel the stress of NYC life melting away. We stopped on route at a local pharmacy for additional sunscreen and fell asleep only to awaken to the gates of our home for 9 days. The house is magnificent, just like the photos. Arched doorways, terracotta stone floor tiles, spiral staircase, the perfect pool. We chose to stay in a double bedded private room with shower, and the AC saved us each night. Located right on the beach we spent many hours in hammocks lounging on the huge porch lovingly referred to as El Rancho. Fridge at hand always filled with cold drinks, and awesome tunes kept the tropical atmosphere heavenly.
We were there during Santa Semana so a bit of 24/7 beach party ensued by locals until Monday morning when the beach emptied and we felt like it was ours. Blue water, blue sky, magical surf spots, soft sand under your feet. The sunsets were like a movie: transitioning every night around 5:15pm from a bright orange sun to an explosion of purple, pink, and gold. **Precision management and knowledge by Greg who clearly had everything well-organized in the most chill manner. Expert surf guides who are genuinely the coolest friends you never had before. Kayla is a mermaid goddess whose divine massages, professional grade photography, artwork and perfectly challenging yoga sessions enticed us during our stay. Guests arrived and departed with fluidity day and night, no worries.
STN has established itself in the neighborhood and there is a real sense of family amongst the crew. Its obvious they’re passionate about what they do and their goal is to create the perfect vacation/ stay for you.
Staff is constantly cleaning the house, and there’s always an ample supply of soap, shampoo, purified water, snacks available. All are very aware of environmental conservation. (but bring plenty of sunscreen and bug repellent!)
I’m a real picky eater and I felt absolutely catered to. Homemade delicious meals were prepared 3x/day including fresh salads, if you’re lucky Kayla will make you one of her banana smoothies. They even made a special dish each dinner for us. We ate at a long family-style table and the conversations were one of the best parts of the trip. (besides hanging with the crew, G&K on the stoop …and special shout out to Shawn, Keith, Markel, Luke, Olsa and Dalle~Dalle~Dalle (aka: “Dale”).
Day trips to Leon, a breathtaking lagoon, and Gran Pacifica were xtra highlights for us. Our goal is to return soon and explore some more of this beautiful country with G&K. We can’t thank you enough. xoxoxoxo
NOT JUST SURFERS PARADISE
Whether your here to surf your brains out or hang out beach side, u can’t go wrong here!
My first time to Nica from San Diego. Arrived at Managua late night. Got pick up by Irbin at the airport in his sick lit up car. Hour or so we arrive at SURF TOURS NICARAGUA (STN). Rang the doorbell, hoping we wouldn’t wake anyone up. But turned out they were up waiting for us. Got a tour of the place, chitchat n few Toñas. Off to bed.
Next few days were full of adventure.
Wake up at sunrise get some fruit, coffee n beagles. Go surf for a bit, come in for food n water.
Get some Breakfast which was always awesome. Get the game plan for the day from the knowledgeable surf guides. Boat trip or car ride to different surf spot. Come back for lunch. Chillax n drink some Toñas. Go back out or check out the sick tide pools. Get some dinner n shoot pool. Humberto local pool shark n night watchman. Always a good challenge.
Thank you Kayla, Brazilskey, Markel, Keith n Greg for the awesome hospitality n the sick memories.
Honestly I got a little teary-eyed on my second to last night, when I thought about leaving. Dying to go back! Whether to get some waves or visit some new friends.
Awesome place to catch amazing waves
This is a great place to stay offering fun waves everyday and getting taken to the right surf spot. The service was great and they tell you how to get to the surf spots so you don’t get hurt. They guide you to the spots and surf with you to catch the best waves possible and stay safe!!
Great time at Surf Tours Nica at Punta Miramar
The trip met our expectations, head high plus 7 of the 8 days. Staff was friendly and accommodating, sharing local knowledge on where to line up, best tides, etc. Even if they had position in the line up they let us have the wave! Boat ride to Freight Trains/Puerto Sandino was only 5 minutes away. My favorite wave was an incredible left, Pipes, a less than 5 minute walk from the camp. Hanging at the Rancho, the covered deck with a great view of the waves, was very nice between sessions. We all had very nice massages from Kayla to get ready for the next days waves. Food was great, make sure to have them make the Nica boil. Half day trip into Leon was worth it. Price includes boat rides, trips to Leon or local lake and pick and drop off at airport so overall very affordable and worth going!!
